Wonderful Places in the World

Sea Turtle Research at Mote Marine Laboratory
This field research station is in Sarasota, Florida where there are vast amounts of marine life to study.  One in particular is the seas turtle.  I have 3 aquatic slider turtles of my own so this was particularly interesting to me.  People who work and intern at this laboratory work to conserve the lives of these sea turtles and preserve their habitats.

The Redwood National Park
This is a picture I took with my Nikon D80 last summer when in The Redwoods.  Most of my extended family lives in Oregon and I was born in California so these amazing trees have always been close to my heart.

Yosemite Falls
The highest measured waterfall in North America in Yosemite National Park is the one shown above.  It is of particular interest to me because Ansel Adams took most of his infamous photographs in this Park due to its vast landscape.  I have never been there, but wish to someday; especially to visit this amazing geological water feature.

Teacup Pig
The teacup pig is genetically engineered to stay little cute animals for your petting pleasure.  I want one someday because they won't be as heavy as a pot-belly pig and do not shed.

Giant Squid
I could not decide on just one animal due to need to share the giant squid.  The giant squid is an amazing, yet frightful discovery.  These deep-ocean dwelling creatures have been a fear yet a big interest of mine.  Many Discovery specials have been made on giant squid, but still the only information/research we have on them is the deceased, or nearly deceased, placed in preserving liquid.

Maps

Enjoy!
California Map

This is a choropleth map of California's predicted water supply in each county using predicted climate changes for each area in the state.  This was interesting to me in particular because I was born in Northern California. Note how scattered the extreme (dark red) areas are scattered throughout the state.
Mount Kilimanjaro
This is a very detailed topographical map of Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, Africa.  This mountain has been the pinnacle of many life and death based novels on climbing and far surpasses the feat of climbing Mount Everest.

The highest peak seen in white on this map is called the Kibo Peak, or Uhuru Peak at 5,895 meters above sea level.  It is the highest freestanding mountain in the world and is the 4th most prominent.  That is why the mountain is so incredible to me!

Snellville, GA
On Google Earth I have flown to my house in Snellville, Georgia and the park that I train at for cross country during the summers! I can trace all the trails in the park with my eyes closed because of the past 6 years of running on them (more miles than shown here).

This trail in particular I marked in cyan because I usually start my run there and then continue in a different direction as often as possible from there.

Closer Look at House
Here is a closer look at my house in Snellville, with my driveway out in front drawn with a white line as well as my pool in the backyard which leads to another trail to the Yellow River with another white line at the bottom of this picture. I traced the pool with yellow and left the marker at the front door. The yellow place mark also shows you the garage where I gladly park my Jaguar when visit home!

The house on the right is where I babysit an adorable little girl named Ila who is now 2 years old. The green line represents me walking back and forth between the houses when I am called to watch her!
